Dance ministry vs Dance performance

Let's talk about the difference between dance ministry and dance performance.

This seems to be a difficult transition to make, especially if you grew up with years of secular dance training.I found that the Holy Spirit has to consistently purge us of the “Feeling” that we need to “Perform” for people.

We are called to “Minister to People.” We are called to “Win the Lost” As dance ministries, we are Not called to dance strictly for “Entertainment” But, when we can disconnect ourselves from the feeling that we need to “Show people what we can do” - we are truly set free through the Power of Praise; and, the Healing Power of Worship. When we are free from “The need to perform for people” God empowers us with an anointing that sets people free.

Remember, it is all about God....keep him at the forefront and seek Him every step of the way! A dance ministry is not something to be entered into lightly...too many times people start off well intentioned because it "looks cool and innovative"...but it should be taken seriously. Leaders and dance ministers need to have a prayer life and a relationship with the Lord. If you have no relationship with the Lord you are just exercising!

Spiritual Requirements for the Christian Dance Worshiper

In preparing oneself for the ministry of dance, we must first realize that our first call is to Jesus Himself. We first draw close to Him, seek to know Him: seek His face, seek His heart. Our ministry will then be a result of the overflow of having spent time with Him. Only then can we truly answer the call to ministry. He must always be our first love.

The Scriptures tell us that God is seeking worshipers, not dancers. Although ability is necessary, the Scripture does not exhort us to “praise Him in the dance if you have been to ballet class”. Those who will worship in Spirit and in truth are those who God calls.

Because there is no scriptural reference that tells us to “sit and watch while others dance”, our dance must truly be a priestly ministry, bringing Christ to the people, and/ or the people to Christ. We are never to be the focus. Because dance is such a visible ministry, it is imperative for us to endeavor to lay self on the altar and seek to “BE YE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY” 1 Peter 1:16.

God is looking for people who will make time to meet with Him daily. Let us spend time with God until our dances come from Him. God wants dances that are Spirit to spirit: Dances that will bring change in the lives of others. God has dances from His heart and dances from His throne that He wants to pour out through us. Therefore, we must learn to be visual demonstrations of what God is saying and doing in the Sprit. We must empty our own dances and make room for His. We must learn to express the truths of God’s heart.

We must become transparent in our worship. There are no short cuts. We must allow God to break us in worship so we can begin to learn true expression. Let’s yearn for that which is authentic. You cannot fake the anointing. The anointing is not just for your gift – it is for your whole life. Ministry must come from the overflow.

Worshipers who are consumed with a fiery passion for Jesus will win the end time harvest. The ultimate in our worship is not the expression of the worship - it is the knowledge of His presence. Let’s not reduce our expressions of worship to mere fleshly activities. His presence and His anointing are the only things that validate our expressions of worship, not our skill or expressive ability. Let’s learn to hear from God – learn to know what the Spirit is saying to the church.

I challenge you to begin your day with God. If you do not already have a daily time set aside for seeking His face, make it a priority to begin immediately. Each morning, rise earlier than normal. Go into your prayer closet – a place where there will be no distractions. Have a time of worship, bible study and prayer. It is vital for the dancer to minister to God before ministering for God. Then and only then will we truly be a vessel prepared for the Master’s use.

We will miss you!

Joan Beeler is an amazing woman. She has been a vital part of Wings of Worship from the beginning. On the evening of Saturday May 3, Joan's husband Barry, passed away. Over the past two years, The Beeler family has had their share of ups and downs, but I have never heard anything negative come out of their mouths. There were many time I would talk with them at church or on the phone and want to encourage them, but I was the one who left that conversation encouraged. This family has touched many lives with their words and the life they live.

NVMC has lost a great friend. Barry was a Husband, Father, and a man of great faith. Today he is with the Lord and his battle with cancer has come to a victorious end. Joan and the boys need your prayers and support during this time of great loss.

the funeral arrangements are as follows:

Barry Beeler
Owen Funeral Home on Dixie Highway
Visitation is Tuesday 2-8
Funeral Wednesday @ Noon

In lieu of flowers NVMC is asking for donations to help cover the funeral expenses. You may make checks payable to NVMC for this family and we will make sure it is given to the family on your behalf. You may also donate online at www.NVMC.tV and label your donation for Barry Beeler family. Any help is greatly appreciated by this family.
For more information you may contact the church at 239-1972

Joan, we are here for you. If you need ANYTHING, you know you can call day or night.

We love you Joan. Your sisters of W.O.W.

The Dancer

My heart sings when I think of Your greatness
My soul dances when Your wind blows against my skin
My mind can't comprehend the grace and favor You have given me.

I am Your vessel

Your Holy Spirit takes control of my body and worships You in dance.
When people are watching they receive deliverance, healing, salvation, and love.

The power that flows through me, I can hardly stand.
The anointing that flows through my feet and my hands
I never thought You would use a sinner like me,
But I was wrong and my purpose is being fulfilled
By letting go and doing your will.

Our Wonderful God!

We just had our "Peace in HIS Presence" Workshop and it was wonderful! We laughed, we cried, we danced, we were changed. Saturday was a day that I will not soon forget. We touched on what worship truly is and covered topics such as flags/billow, prophetic dance, dancing the word, and choreography. God took over and lives were changed and many peoples eyes were opened to a new way of worship.
We had a guest come and impart into our lives. Sherri Hart is an amazing woman of God. She came and delivered a powerful word from God. She also led us into a very intimate time of worship. Sherri just recorded her first Cd and this is a must have to your music library. (I will have info on how you can purchase your own copy of this CD soon).
Thank you to everyone that made this day possible.
Here is a video clip and some testimonies that I have received about the workshop. I am already looking forward to our next workshop.

Tammy, I want to thank you again for all the hard work you put into the workshop. It was exactly what Dr. Jesus ordered for me:) I came with a headache that I had for a couple of days over some very stressful things that I had to deal with that week. At home, I kept trying to cast my cares on the Lord, but the enemy was really attacking my mind. I was so distracted about pressing issues I had to deal with that I wasn't in the Word to the extend that I needed. Everyones' smiling faces was the first blessing. I loved Tammy and Sherri's teaching. I took notes. It really ministered to me. But, I must say that the breakthrough came during the worship, beginning with the very first song. The more we worshiped, the more I received from the Lord. I had just finished some "Warfare Prayer" and ended up on my knees with my face to the floor. Then, several of the ladies gave a message in tongues and interpretation. As I was crying and I travailing in the spirit, all of that heavy burden left me. Everything they were saying was God speaking to me, answering my heart cries to Him. It was truly awesome! I have been so blessed ever since. I never cease to be amazed at God's goodness!!! God bless you!!! Joan B.

Tammy, My experience I had at the worship workshop was breathe taking!!! I never felt the move of God that strong ever in my life. I was so taken by the Lord and I heard from Him loud and clear to never be afraid to worship Him in spirit and in truth, when I tell you to worship me do it no matter who is around you I need you to worship me. I want to thank you Tammy for be obedient to the Lord and being a great host. I can't wait for the next one and I know it will be really soon and after that it will be every week. :-) Kim M.

Peace in his presence is exactly what we received Saturday.. It is amazing how when you set aside time for the Lord He blesses you so tremendously--giving you peace and refreshing from the cares of this life! We have to take time for the Lord because He is ready and waiting to tend to us when we offer up ourselves to Him. The Lord dealt with me that day about obedience---when He tells me to go GO--when He tells me to do DO! Quit analyzing-- stop worrying about what people think!!
We had a tremendous unity that day---it was awesome when we danced in a circle together how we were able to experience the freedom and joy of the Lord!
And then there came a point when I just laid on my back and talked to God.. I mean REALLY talked with Him---about a lot of stuff... This was the perfect environment to praise, to worship, to give, and to RECEIVE! I am so glad I went and just allowed the Lord to SHOWER me with His presence! Stephanie H.

This was one of the most memorable experiences i have ever had in my life. words cannot describe what happened in that room or in my heart and soul...i am truly free to worship. I give all the glory to god. i thank you Tammy for your obedience and for stepping outside of your comfort zone to be used of god in such a mighty way. i cant wait to get a hold of ms.Sherri harts cd. God bless you all. Rachel

I was glad to be apart of a workshop that was all about worship dance! As we were worshiping the Lord, I felt like this is what we were meant to do; that this is the purpose of all creation: to worship our heavenly Father! I felt and knew that God was in the midst of us. It reminded me of being a kid and not having to worry about a single thing- knowing your parents would take care of your every need. God is taking care of my every need! I'm so glad to have been reminded of this simple truth at the workshop.
And Finally there's no right or wrong way to worship in dance. I loved that everyone had different styles all that's needed is a loving heart toward Jesus.
Thanks Tammy!
Shara

First let me say Thank You Lord for giving Tammy the vision for this workshop. This workshop was anointed and appointed for such a time as this!! This was not for the dance and flag ministry, God told Tammy to call all worshipers! and she did!!! If you answered the call or not is up to you. For me I am glad I answer the call of God to be there. This led me into a deeper place with Jesus. People sing the song "deeper" but are you truly ready to be taken out of the comfort zone of your normal life. In this workshop it allowed me to be FREE with the master, every moment and every song that was ministered this day was for his GLORY. You were FREE INDEED. It was for me my constant conversation with Christ through worship and praise. I pray each day that God opens the hearts of others to receive the amount of pressing, pouring into and freedom that all of us received that day. I know I will never be the same, Never!! So if you see me dancing a different way, praising a different way or worshiping a different way!! Ask God to take you deeper in worship with HIM.
Regina

When I heard about the "Peace In His Presence" Workshop, immediately God put it in my heart to do a dance to the song titled "No Sacrifice" by Jason Upton for the concert that night.
Many times in my walk with the Lord, he has put it within me to sing a song, do a dance or just simply step out of my comfort zone. In the past, I always gave an excuse to the Lord. Instead of just being obedient to His voice, I would tell Him that I didn't have time to prepare, or I didn't feel adequate or talented enough.
One of the things that we all talked about at the workshop was being obedient to the voice of God and stepping out of our box. Even while we were talking about this, In my mind I was again returning to my former habit, thinking of reasons why I should not do this dance.
In deciding to finally do the dance and be obedient to the voice of the Lord, God reminded me of some things that I think we all loose at some point. God reminded me that the dance is not just about the moves or the motions or the choreography, although those things are very important and needed. It's simply just about the worship of our heart and the praise that we give to the Lord. It's our undivided attention and true praise and worship that we give, and that He ultimately deserves. That is the core of dance and that it what our purpose should be! Jessica B.

I have to say the part where we just listened to the music and did our own thing, I felt the Holy Spirit so strong and powerful--the tears flowed. When one of the ladies did her speaking in tongues and when it was interpreted--that hit me even harder--it hit home. When Sherri spoke--that added to the interpretation--things were just piecing together like a puzzle. There are so many words I can say but to sum it up all I can say is Jesus was definitely there and I'm glad I didn't miss it. You did an awesome job on all of it Tammy. This is just a taste of whats to come. Lisa Quire

The Word In Action

This is a clip of an activity we did at our "Peace In HIS Presence" workshop. We broke up into groups and I gave all the groups the scripture Ecc. 3: 1-8, they had 20 minutes to choreograph that scripture. My point through this activity is that we are all different in our dance/presentation of the scripture, but it was the same scripture. We are all creative. When we worship God, we all may have our own way of doing it, but it is all worship. Some may kneel, some may jump, many may lift their hands, some bow their heads, some dance and some shout and none of them are wrong. Each person has their own way of expressing what is in their heart to the Father. Check out the video.
